Late night clinical prep

Flipping
Piecing
Sleepy eyes
Turning
Churning
Aching back

Will the picture ever reveal itself?
Mostly a fog. Mostly hidden.

Yet the seeking is not for truly for the picture.
Knowledge is for the person.

Baby Steps to Critical Thinking

October31

It’s too easy having a computer genius in the house. Any time the slightest thing goes wonky, I can literally reach out and touch a troubleshooter for help. But am I learning anything?

The answer to that is a big fat NO.

So having had this realization and him not nearby one day, I had to {gasp!} fix something! And amazingly, I did. Eventually. It was annoying, painful, frustrating, irritating, shall I continue the thesaurus litany?

Point is that in the end, it was fixed. And it felt really good that I had done it myself. And not only for the present moment, but for generations to come too. Why is that?

I have a relative who really drives me batty. Her most aggravating feature – to me – is that she never even attempts to solve problems herself. She plays helpless damsel at the drop of a hat, yet puts on the brave face of an “educated woman.” To me, the two simply do not fit in the same sentence. My suspicion is that the damsel is just an act, but when mercy returns to my heart, I realize that she probably had no other example as a child and that her self-esteem maybe equates assistance with love.

The worst of it is that I find myself doing the exact same thing. Doesn’t it just gall you to bits that what most bothers us about others is SO close to home?!

So the little situation of my computer problem became “Am I going to be more for myself and my children?” And I took a baby step.

Huzzah to me!

Not to be forgotten

Lately, little things have popped up as fun t-shirt ideas. And with the advent of make your own shirt design companies online, these wacky suggestions are actually feasible. The latest idea was this.

On the front,

“Doe-Ray…

And on the back,

Egon!”

This one would be a special gift for the little man, my son, who recently feel head over heels for the movie, Ghostbusters. Which makes me wish that I hadn’t already bought him a Halloween costume because now I’m thinking that a khaki jumpsuit and vacuum on his back would be tons of fun!

  • "Love anything and your heart will be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact you must give it to no one, not even an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements. Lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket, safe, dark, motionless, airless, it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable. To love is to be vulnerable." — C.S. Lewis
