About Kalanna
i am a wife and mother, surrounded by books.
i am a Cajun in willing exile and proud dual citizen of America and Canada.
i am a hopeless romantic and a blogger since 2003, always looking for my missing piece.
i am a gamer who likes to play with the boys. i wish i knew more girls like me.
i love loitering in coffee shops, exploring in libraries, healing in hospitals and walking – while remembering – through graveyards.
i am terribly organized yet horribly scattered. only recently has serenity, not perfection, been the goal.
i am a health care worker and eternal nursing student, one day there will be the initials R.N. behind my name.
i am a gardener and cook, photographer of flowers, recovering codependent and WoW addict, occasional seamstress recently interested in decorating her house.
i live everyday believing that God will keep the promise he made me.
i blog because i can’t not blog. i’ve tried. it is where i do my best thinking and bring together all the little bits of my life.

i am beginning here my list of things to do before i vanish into that good night…
1. become an R.N.
2. walk the entire Bruce Trail in Ontario
3. pass on a complete recipe archive to my children

kalanna is not my real name. it is a pseudonym i have used for years, made up from J.R.R. Tolkien’s Elvish dictionary found at the back of his The Silmarillion. it roughly translates into “shining gift,” but i chose it because it was both unique and lovely. i have used it as a name for avatars in games and identities on blogs. i have friends that sometimes forget to call me by my real name because we originally met under aliases.
i write as my true self and do not feel at all false by writing under this name. i always give my complete self. this elven guise is simply fun while protecting my family. besides, who doesn’t want to have blue hair every once in awhile? {wink}
other places to find me on-line…

I love getting letters and writing letters. Write me anytime.
