Ender’s Game
spoiler alert! though i don’t care all that much if your mind is pre-blown. ender’s game BLEW my mind. go. read. it. it’s the best sci-fi i’ve read so far.
one of my favorite quotes:
“… the seed of doubt was there, and it stayed, and every now and then sent out a little root. It changed everything, to have that seed growing. It made Ender listen more carefully to what people meant, instead of what they said. It made him wise.”
about halfway through this book, my mind kept trying to wrap itself around where this thing was going. i was trying to prepare myself for disappointment. instead i got the deepest most lovely multi-layered chocolate cake of an ending. nyah bad metaphor. that makes it sound like a bed of roses. it is harsh and shocking and yet human and real and somehow… yes, lovely.
probably i’ll write more later. fifteen minutes of soaking in after turning the last page isn’t enough.
