Something good to think about
I’m in the mood for good news. The health care splatter all over my facebook and the internet has me down. I heard this podcast a couple of weeks back and just loved the scientific findings they shared…
Ever beat your head against a wall over an answer that just won’t come? Only to take a break, go outside, even forget the problem’s existence for awhile until one moment you are still stuck and the next some miraculous, creative, perfectly tailored solution to just your problem pops into your mind. Happens to all of us, I think, and someone really really smart came up with a study that shows why this happens with… *whispering* science. It’s so COOL!
It turns out that you actually physically literally see MORE when you are in a good mood.
“A University of Toronto study provides the first direct evidence that our mood literally changes the way our visual system filters our perceptual experience suggesting that seeing the world through rose-coloured glasses is more biological reality than metaphor.”
The story was featured on CBC’s Quirks and Quarks, a long time favorite of ours. Here’s the link so you can listen too.
Be sure to put your Anne of Green Gables hat on before you leave the house this morning. I’ll be dusting mine off and hoping things go for the best south of the border.
