“ and somehow it's funnier and more shocking that the story that involved a speculum. humour makes for fab summer reading! 2012-07-24
"Love anything and your heart will be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact you must give it to no one, not even an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements. Lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket, safe, dark, motionless, airless, it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable. To love is to be vulnerable." — C.S. Lewis

They are pretty, and they do have a scent. It is a plant you are suppose to plant near things you want to ward off animals from b/c of the scent. They are good in your vegetable garden for that reason.
I knew about planting them around veggies. I didn’t know it was because of the scent. (what i thought it was… well, i dunno.)
but yeah, that’s my plan for next year. Two overgrown and half-dead spruce bushes are being dug up in the spring to make way for veggies and herbs and marigolds!
…I thought it was because the critters would choke on those crazy-shaped petals!
Gorgeous! Such a simple and beautiful photo. (And yes, Marigolds as well as Nasturtiums are great to plant in and around veggies to keep critters and creepy crawlers at bay, especially tomato’s).
Those are beautiful!
seems like photos are pretty popular!
